Finca Don Julian: Incredible coffee is grown here, and on arrival it becomes clear that the taste of the coffee is the direct result of the extraordinary characteristics of the farm. At first glance you might assume that you were walking through a nature preserve, where coffee trees are surrounded by other plants and enormous shade trees tower above. It is no accident that the farm feels this way; the owner, Mrs. Burneskis, thinks the farm should be kept in a natural state. She has a level of respect and connectivity for the coffee plants that really comes to light when you walk through the sprawling greenery. Finca Don Julian is located about 1600 to 1850 meters above sea level in the subregion of Boquete called Horqueta, and coffee, of several varieties, grow in rich, black volcanic soil. The growing area, being in a protected tropical rainforest, gives the coffee a unique flavor, great acidity and bold body.
This lot is 100% Geisha, an heirloom variety from Ethiopia that produces a blue-green elongated coffee bean that is especially aromatic and floral. Price Peterson, who owns and is the patriarch of Hacienda Esmeralda in Panama, experimented by planting it some years ago along with a broader group of varietals. The result was the rediscovery of a great cultivar with extreme fruitiness and floral scents and flavors, but with balance and finesse not seen in other coffees. Coffee farmers in other countries soon followed suit, and the variety regularly takes home awards in Cup of Excellence competitions held throughout the world. This is a Washed processed coffee - the skin is removed and fermentation allows the mucilage to break down, followed by washing. The coffee 'beans', actually the seeds, which are each encased in their parchment husks at this point, are spread out on raised tables to slowly dry in the sun or in brightly shaded covered patios.
If you are fan of the great Panama Geisha coffees that we've had in the past we are confident you will truly enjoy every sip of this coffee.  This was our top pick of the washed Geishas that we were able to sample this year and are happy to offer a very limited quantity for those looking to indulge themselves or their friends a bit this season.  This coffee will be sold as WHOLE BEAN only as pre grinding will destroy the delicate aromatic compounds that make this coffee stand out.

We ship freshly roasted coffee Monday through Friday via UPS ground. Most orders placed before 2pm EST will ship same day.

Delayed, Lost or Stolen Packages

We will do our best to help troubleshoot with you, but we
cannot control what happens when your package leaves the roasting
facility. Once the package has been picked up, it is out of our hands.

Holidays, severe weather, carrier staff shortage and high package volumes are causing delays in package transit time.

As a small business, we are unable to absorb the costs of
packages being lost in transit. We cannot refund orders that are marked
as delivered with a tracking number, even if a customer is stating they
haven’t received the package.

For UPS claims, please email us at georgio@georgioscoffee.com

When checking out, *Please make sure your address is correct!*

In order to balance getting your coffee out to
you as quickly as possible with freshness of roast we ship all coffee as
ordered within one week of the roast date. We typically roast
Wednesdays and Fridays.

In our experience most coffees
taste best after a few days rest, and high quality coffees stay at peak
flavor up to six weeks post roast.
