Elías Roa is a seasoned coffee producer originally from Acevedo, Huila. He continues to oversee several coffee farms in the area, with Tamaná in El Pital emerging as a significant focus. In this location, Elías has refined his expertise through meticulous processing and improved drying methods. Moreover, he now cultivates a diverse range of coffee varieties, including some older heirloom stock and even some African varieties.
Members of his immediate family actively participate in the operations on the farm. Bellanid, his wife, hosts the property, while their daughter, Derlin, and son-in-law, Diego Campos (former barista champion of Colombia), contribute to the management of the farm alongside their own plot in La Plata. Elías's youngest daughter, Yurany, has been employed with Osito (the green coffee exporter of this coffee) since 2021, serving as the manager for all coffee and cacao exports.
We have had the opportunity to taste coffees from Finca Tamana many times and have always been impressed so when the opportunity arose to purchase this coffee we jumped at it.  This lot is comprised of three distinct cultivars: Bourbon, Gesha and Caturron. The coffee is hand-picked at peak ripeness then floated to further remove defects and de-pulped on the day of harvest. It is then dry fermented for 35 hours and carefully dried on raised beds until the moisture content reaches 10.5%
While we enjoy well produced natural, honey and even some more experimental processing styles of coffee, here at Georgio's a great washed coffee is still our favorite and this coffee shows why.  It offers both comfort and adventure, something delicious and familiar yet also a sense of terroir utterly unique to this coffee from this farm at this time.  Needless to say, we encourage everyone to try some of this coffee brought to you by one of the most highly regarded and revered producers in all of Colombia.
