This lot of coffee comes to us from a small producer in San Miguel, Nariño. In Colombia the vast majority of coffee is cultivated, harvested and processed on small family owned farms. While these producers are their own architects, designing farm management and post-harvest solutions to fit their needs, they also need strong alliances to bring their coffee to the international market and earn fair prices. To support this system of small farm production, Colombia established the Federación Nacional de Cafeteros de Colombia (FNC) to organize and support a complex network of larger regional coffee cooperatives. These cooperatives provide producers with valuable logistical support like centralized warehouses to store dried parchment and dry mills where the coffee is prepared for export according to size. The Excelso grade is the designation for beans that will not pass through a screen opening below 14/64 of an inch. Excelso lots are often traceable to regions of Colombia, each with distinct harvest times, which provides for a constant supply of fresh Colombian Excelso throughout the calendar year. This single farmer separation is the next step, allowing Hermes' hard work to stand out in its own lot where he can earn a premium and continue to support his family and reinvest in his farm.
We are really enjoying this lot as it has great balance, nice body to it and is incredibly smooth to drink. This coffee, roasted on the lighter side of a medium roast, is enjoyable whether you take your coffee black or add some accoutrements a la milk and sugar.
We ship freshly roasted coffee Monday through Friday via UPS ground. Most orders placed before 2pm EST will ship same day.
Delayed, Lost or Stolen Packages
We will do our best to help troubleshoot with you, but we
cannot control what happens when your package leaves the roasting
facility. Once the package has been picked up, it is out of our hands.
Holidays, severe weather, carrier staff shortage and high package volumes are causing delays in package transit time.
As a small business, we are unable to absorb the costs of
packages being lost in transit. We cannot refund orders that are marked
as delivered with a tracking number, even if a customer is stating they
haven’t received the package.

In order to balance getting your coffee out to
you as quickly as possible with freshness of roast we ship all coffee as
ordered within one week of the roast date. We typically roast
Wednesdays and Fridays.
In our experience most coffees
taste best after a few days rest, and high quality coffees stay at peak
flavor up to six weeks post roast.
